About
Tom is a storyteller based in Auckland, New Zealand.
His debut feature film, SHUT EYE, premiered at the 2022 New Zealand International Film Festival and was acquired by leading independent distributor Gravitas Ventures for North American distribution. The film was praised by critics as "One of the best New Zealand films of 2022" and has since screened internationally at the Melbourne International Film Festival and the Manchester International Film Festival. It was also nominated for two Septimius Awards, including Best Oceanian Film.
With a focus on character-driven narrative, Tom's feature-length screenplays have been recognised by The Black List, appearing on their Top List. One of his Black List recognised screenplays, THE TELEVANGELIST, was invited to the 2023 Fantastic 7 Pavilion at the Cannes Film Festival as part of in-development showcases from around the world.
Tom's sophomore feature film, NOTES FROM A FISH, was selected for the 2025 New Zealand International Film Festival for its world premiere, described by the NZIFF Head Programmer as the "Sleeper comedy hit of this year's festival." The film had a limited theatrical release throughout New Zealand in December 2025.
In May 2026, Tom's third feature film DEAD MILES was announced as part of the Cannes Film Market, a co-production with Minds Eye Entertainment (FORSAKEN, THE TALL MAN) and Lumin Productions, due for production in British Columbia in late 2026.
Tom is also writing with Zero Gravity Management on an unannounced thriller screenplay.
